Production Engineer

Responsibilities and Duties: Optimising and overseeing the manufacturing processes within the door and furniture production plant. Based across our Booysens, Johannesburg and Sebenza, Edenvale facilities, this role ensures the efficient use of machinery, materials, and manpower to deliver high-quality products while driving process improvements, reducing waste, and maintaining safety and compliance standards.

Key duties include planning, coordinating, and monitoring daily production activities across door and furniture lines, improving and standardising woodworking and assembly processes, developing and maintaining machine setups, and troubleshooting production issues on CNC machines and woodworking equipment. The engineer will work closely with the design team to ensure new designs are production-ready, implement lean manufacturing practices, uphold strict quality control standards, and support maintenance teams in maximising machine performance. In addition, the role involves training production staff, monitoring material usage and reject rates, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Educational: A Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience: A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a woodworking, door, or furniture manufacturing environment is advantageous, though not mandatory. Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, woodworking processes, and assembly lines will be considered a strong asset.

Computer Skills: High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), with additional competence in ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling and material control considered advantageous.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Performance will be measured on production efficiency and output against target, material yield and waste reduction, machine downtime reduction, quality reject rates, on-time delivery, cost savings from process improvements, and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities and Duties: Assist with a variety of day-to-day tasks including filing, calling customers, and completing credit applications for finalisation. The role also involves loading payments, ensuring cash books are signed off, updating ISO procedures and records, and maintaining spreadsheets for Mills, Stockists, and Couriers. The administrator will support financial month-end processes and assist with preparing documentation for finance, debtors, and creditors. General finance assistance to the Debtors and Creditors departments will also form part of the role, along with supporting internal teams with any administrative requirements.

Educational: A Matric certificate is required for this role. Tertiary education will be advantageous, and any knowledge or experience in finance, debtors, or creditors would be beneficial. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, and must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Experience: Candidates should have strong administrative, communication, and writing skills, along with the ability to multitask and stay organised in a fast-paced environment.
