Responsibilities and Duties: Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of health, housekeeping and safety; delivering excellent customer service; building and nurturing relationships with new and existing clients; introducing and promoting products; supporting client retention; managing internal sales administration and quality processes; contributing to new business development and marketing initiatives; and completing general administrative duties.
Health, Housekeeping & Safety: Ensure compliance with all established environmental, health and safety policies and procedures, while maintaining discipline and promoting a safe working environment. Maintain the highest housekeeping standards, identify and report unsafe working conditions or risks to the relevant personnel, and accurately record minutes of Health and Safety meetings.
Customer Service: Ensure that all customer communication is handled promptly, accurately and professionally. Attend to customer queries timeously, communicate correct supply lead times and order statuses, and liaise daily with Production, PS and FA departments to obtain progress updates. Maintain and update price lists on Pastel annually or as required.
Develop Relationships with New and Existing Clients: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients through regular weekly visits and ongoing engagement. Reconnect with dormant clients, maintain good rapport after sales to encourage long-term business, and regularly check in with customers to understand their needs and offer support. Follow up on leads more than once to maximise conversion opportunities.
Introducing Products to Clients: Introduce and promote existing and new Astro products to current and prospective clients. Build awareness of the product range through proactive networking and engagement with potential customers.
Client Retention: Contact leads provided by the internal sales team on a weekly basis and monitor customer sales volumes monthly. Prepare reports on customer volumes, including reasons for increases or decreases, and work with the internal sales department to identify lost and dormant customers for follow-up and retention efforts.
Internal Sales Administration & Quality: Assist with the planning and coordination of new business opportunities, promote sales to prospective customers, and follow up with existing customers regarding new orders. Prepare accurate quotations and maintain quotation records in accordance with approved procedures, including following up for approval and reporting reasons for non-approval. Ensure customers understand the company’s trading terms, including minimum order quantities, services, lead times, pricing and delivery arrangements. Process approved purchase orders on Pastel, create and distribute sales orders to Production, send order confirmations to customers, and obtain required approvals or deposits before notifying Production. Work with the FM and Stores departments to implement and review material requirements planning quarterly. Ensure all order documentation is correctly filed and that customer requirements and additional instructions are communicated clearly and accurately to Production.
New Business and Marketing: Generate new business through cold calling and other proactive sales activities, while working towards achieving monthly sales targets. Maintain up-to-date social media content and contribute creative ideas to improve the company’s marketing initiatives and market reach.
Administration: Complete ad hoc duties as required by the SM or CM, and ensure periodic filing and archiving of relevant documentation is completed accurately and timelessly.
Working Hours: Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday from 07h15 to 17h00 and Friday from 07h15 to 15h00. The employee may be required to provide assistance beyond these hours when necessary to ensure that all duties are completed and work remains up to date.

Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for the efficient manufacture and improvement of furniture products, including fabrication, assembly, installation and finishing in accordance with approved drawings and quality standards. The role involves operating woodworking and CNC machinery, handling materials safely, maintaining equipment and work areas, conducting quality checks, reducing waste, and collaborating with the production team to meet delivery, safety and compliance requirements.
Skills & Competencies:
The successful candidate should demonstrate strong technical and practical carpentry skills, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications. A high level of quality awareness, attention to detail, problem-solving ability and safety consciousness is essential. The role requires physical capability, adaptability, sound communication skills, analytical and organisational ability, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team. Relevant formal qualifications, such as a National Certificate in Furniture Making recognised by SAQA or obtained through AITF College, would be beneficial.
Qualifications & Experience:
A relevant diploma, certificate or equivalent qualification is required, together with approximately three to five years’ relevant experience. Experience in woodworking processes, furniture assembly lines and operating CNC machinery would be advantageous, although not essential. The candidate should have a working knowledge of raw materials and their applications, ISO quality standards, and applicable health and safety regulations.
Key Performance Indicators: Performance will be measured by the ability to develop and design new products, implement improvements to new and existing products, and accurately interpret drawings and production specifications to guide the manufacturing process. Additional measures include material yield and waste reduction across timber, board and finishing materials, as well as the quality reject rate, with emphasis on furniture and doors passing quality control inspection the first time.
