About Astro Group
Astro Group is South Africa’s leading aluminium surface finisher and one of the country’s foremost suppliers of aluminium and aluminium products. We supply, fabricate, and surface-finish aluminium to specification, taking projects from raw extrusion through to a finished, ready-to-install product, all in-house.
We work with businesses across Transport, Building & Construction, Medical, and Renewable Energy, as well as a broad range of industrial, commercial, and consumer applications.
Since 1998
Astro Aluminium was founded in 1998 by our Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Dawson, to supply aluminium extrusions to industry. This included standard sections such as angle and tube, along with rolled products like anodised-quality sheet and tread plate.
The business soon evolved to accommodate purpose-specific configurations required by certain industries. An early objective was to establish a comprehensive fabrication capability, producing high-quality semi-finished and finished products to customer specification.
Astro Anodising was founded shortly thereafter to complement the supply and fabrication side with surface finishing under the same roof. Today, Astro Anodising offers the largest selection of colours and finishes available in South Africa, with capability ranging from small machined components up to lengths of 3.3m.
Since then, the Group has widened its scope to include powder coating services, as well as the manufacture of its own branded products, including Slide ‘n Space interior sliding doors and wardrobe doors, Astro Quip mobility devices, Xrossbow vehicle side steps, and Tungha bicycle racks.

Astro Aluminium specialises in supplying an extensive range of extruded and rolled aluminium products to customers across various industries. We also manufacture semi-finished and finished products on behalf of our customers or for distribution through our own channels, sourcing the necessary material and providing fabrication services to support these orders.
Astro Anodising
Astro Anodising offers superior anodising services to manufacturers using aluminium in the production of their end products. We offer a large selection of colours and finishes, with the capability to anodise work from small parts and machined components up to lengths of 3.3m.
Astro Powder Coating
Astro Powder Coating specialises in superior powder coating services for aluminium and steel, covering components as well as lengths up to 4m. We offer a wide range of standard colours for internal and external applications, with special colours available on request.
Astro Works
Astro Works specialises in custom extrusion development and design, CNC routering and bending, traditional and precision laser welding, cutting, drilling, guillotining, and press work.
Astro Quip
Astro Quip manufactures and sells a comprehensive range of assistive mobility devices, including elbow crutches, walking sticks, walkers, rollators, and related mobility and orthotic accessories. The majority of our range is designed, manufactured, and tested in South Africa, in accordance with the relevant SABS and ISO standards applying to mobility aids.
Slide 'n Space
Slide ‘n Space specialises in interior sliding doors, barn-style sliding doors, and wardrobe sliding doors, available through leading hardware retailers and direct to the public.
Xrossbow Vehicle Accessories
Xrossbow Vehicle Accessories supplies lightweight, durable aluminium side steps and trims for a range of popular vehicle makes and models, with an established track record as an OEM and second-tier supplier to the South African motor industry.
Tungha Bicycle Racks
Tungha Bicycle Racks offers a quality, affordable range of bike racks for two, three, and four bicycles, designed in-house and manufactured in South Africa, compatible with most hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs.
