Service Overview
Astro Aluminium offers a comprehensive range of aluminium fabrication services, producing semi-finished and finished products to customer specification. Our fabrication capability forms a core part of our Aluminium 360° offering, sitting between sourcing and supply on one side, and surface finishing on the other.
Customers can engage our fabrication services independently or as part of a broader project that includes material sourcing, anodising, or powder coating, all managed under one roof and within the same ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
Our fabrication equipment is suited to high-volume, repeatable production as well as bespoke one-off work. We work with customers from initial design brief through to finished product, handling the fabrication steps required to get there.
Custom Extrusion Design and Development
SOLIDWORKS® 3D Design and Development
We assist with the design and development of custom aluminium extrusion dies, working with customers to develop purpose-specific profiles where standard sections do not meet their requirements using SOLIDWORKS® to design, develop, and refine products in three dimensions before manufacturing begins. Our in-house capability, combined with an established track record, ensures the process is managed accurately and efficiently from brief through to production.
Designing in SOLIDWORKS® before production allows us to identify potential issues early, optimise designs, and produce detailed manufacturing drawings directly from the 3D model. It also allows us to respond more quickly to customer design changes and verify that components will fit and function correctly before production begins.
SOLIDWORKS® is compatible with files from most major CAD platforms, including STEP, IGES, DWG, and DXF. Customers and suppliers do not need to be using SOLIDWORKS® themselves, which simplifies collaboration across different manufacturing and engineering environments and allows us to assess and quote on customer designs faster.
Laser Welding
Our laser welding service is well suited to components where appearance and dimensional accuracy are important, and where conventional welding would introduce too much heat or require significant post-weld finishing.
This results in a more consistent anodised colour and finish after processing, which is a meaningful advantage for customers specifying anodised aluminium components with visible weld areas.
Aluminium CNC Bending
We offer CNC bending for aluminium sheet and plate up to 3mm gauge, with an inside diameter of 25mm on channels. This service applies to aluminium sheet and plate. It does not extend to aluminium tube.
Aluminium CNC Routering
Our in-house CNC routering service is suited to high-volume, component, and extrusion type work, with DXF file compatibility for direct import of customer drawings. Operations include standard cutting, drilling, counter-sinking, and stepped cutting.
Components and lengths between 25mm and 3m are well suited to our machining bed. Specialised jigging ensures a high tolerance is maintained on high-volume, repeatable work.
Cutting, Guillotining, Drilling and Press Work
We offer cutting services on aluminium extrusions to accurate lengths, straight guillotining for aluminium sheeting from 0.5mm to 4.5mm gauge, drilling, countersinking and tapping, and press work for punching, forming, and shaping aluminium extrusions and sheet to customer specification.

Value-Added Services
Efficient Packaging and Delivery
Finished and semi-finished products are packaged using professional equipment and established procedures. Specialised packaging is available on request for products requiring additional protection in transit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Astro Aluminium develop a custom extrusion profile?
Yes. We assist with the full design and development of custom extrusion dies, from initial brief through to production, using in-house CAD software and an established track record in custom profile development.
Can fabrication be combined with surface finishing?
Yes. Anodising and powder coating are available in-house following fabrication, allowing a project to move through the full manufacturing process under one roof without being shipped between separate service providers.
